Westville Bowls Club Kwazulu Natal 3629
Bowls is usually played on a large, well maintained “manicured” bowling green, made from grass or synthetic surface.
The green gets divided into parallel playing strips called rinks when competing.
During competitions one normally flips a coin to see who wins the “mat”. The player then placing the mat and rolling the jack to the other end of the green to serve as a target. Once the jack has come to a hilt, the jack gets aligned to the centre of the rink and the players take turns to roll their bowls from the mat towards the jack.
This is an extremely competitive event, and is played by various age groups. The game requires lots of skill, and focus, and can be quite draining, after a few hours. This is a great social sport “making new friends, whilst competing”.
