Seaton Park
Description
Seaton Park, named after Mrs Seaton who bequeathed the land for park purposes, consists of 3.5 hectares of coastal forest. The park has two swings, not terribly exciting for children and it seems that the toilets are kept locked. As this is a park, there is no office or rangers patrolling the hikes.
Directions
Travel along the N3 towards Durban. Once you get to the city, take exit 1 – R102/M4/North Coast/Beaches. You’ll probably have to contend with a bit of traffic, but keep going. Turn left at the signboard – Masabala Yengwa Avenue/M12/Durban North. Continue driving, you will eventually be driving along Kenneth Kaunda Road, then turn left into Lonsdale Road. Turn left into Ellis Park Drive. Almost immediately thereafter, turn right into Lothian Road. At the stop street turn right and you will see Seaton Park on your right.
Routes
It will take you about ½ hour to walk around the park, but if you amble along and take in all the bird life you can expect to stay for at least 2 hours. There is a path that runs along the perimeter of the park and another two trails that have been cut through the forest. The total distance of the trails is about 1 kilometer.
