Local Durban performer and producer Drone375
About me…
Name: Drone375
(Real name: Dave Raubenheimer)
Information/bio:
I was a child of the 80’s, I grew up around electronic and classical music and my father’s vinyl collection. I always paid more attention to the soundtracks of movies and games rather than the plot. So it was no wonder I would finally get into DJ’ing and production.
In 2002 I bought my 1st pair of 2nd hand CDj’s and taught myself to mix. From there I moved onto vinyl. My passion grew and experience and I found myself in the outdoor trance movement where I played many different genres of EDM.
In 2008 I got into production and in 2009 Wayne Korsman and I formed The Cause and Effect. Which was a live psy-trance and house music act? In 2010 Wayne left Cause and Effect to study classical music and I continued under my original name Drone375.
I produce and perform live progressive dance music. When I perform I don’t DJ anymore, I play for Synth’s, drum-machines and samplers. Each set I play is individual and never a 100% the same, making sure the audience is always entertained as I take them on a sound journey of driving bass lines, edgy beats and Dubby breaks. I also sometimes collaborate with Liana Barciela on more mellow projects. We’re good friends and she is a pleasure to work with.
I use two KORG Electribes, a KORG Micro sampler, a KORG Kaossilator and sometimes a Roland MC 909.
My advice to others would be: there is nothing that hard work can’t accomplish and remember talent does what it can genius does what it must.
