Local Durban Model Kirsten Wilson
When did you first discover you had a passion for modeling, and why do you have this passion?
About 2/3 years ago, I was approached and ever since my first shoot I have loved the modeling experience. It is so much fun, something interesting and different to do every time.
How would you compare Durban models to Johannesburg and International models, are there a huge difference?
I believe there is a difference with regards to exposure, there is hardly any exposure for Durban models and compared to JHB and International there is not a lot of work. I believe Durban have some exquisite models.
Is there a huge stereotype for female models in today’s day and age?
Yes, I think girls believe they need to be a certain weight and look, but everyone is different and its not about what you look like it’s about what look is wanted for a specific shoot. I believe you should just stay healthy and fit and be happy with who you are.
What’s the best part of being a female model?
Being able to do so many different looks and poses .
What was your best model experience?
Sports Illustrated – it was such a fun day! I met so many lovely girls…
What was your favourite photo-shoot / who was the photographer / and what made it different from other photo-shoots?
Jono Nienaber – we did a test shoot for his and my portfolio and the make-up artist (Linsday Nixon), Stylist (Candice Meiring) and it was a fantastic shoot, we did 4/5 different looks and I feel they have been my best so far!
What advice can you give young models that would like to enter the industry?
Never let anyone bring you down, everyone is beautiful in their own way and always remember to just have fun!

FHM Top 100 2011
Sports illustrated Top 15 2011
Catalogue girl for Rip Cur 2011
What’s your favourite quote of all time?
A girl should be two things… Classy & Fabulous.
The modeling industry is known to be brutal at times, and tend to bruise one’s ego. What steps do you take in order for you to rise above harsh comments and remarks?
I always remember it’s not about what you look like it’s about what the agency/company is looking for.
What are your plans for the future as a model?
I have no plans as yet, I take each day as it comes.
