eThekwini Chief Whip – Cllr Stanley Xulu
THE NEW eThekwini Chief Whip Stanley Xulu received much of his schooling under a tree, so it’s not surprising he’s passionate about education and community upliftment.
“I know what it is like to go to school in winter and not have adequate facilities. These were some of the reasons that got me involved in community work and helping others,” said Xulu. “I will work with other councillors to ensure that the people of eThekwini receive all necessary services.”
Xulu, who is also the ANC’s acting chairperson in the eThekwini region, has served as a councillor for 11 years in Umgababa’s Ward 11. He is married to Phindile Nene and attended Umgababa Combined School. He said the Municipality belonged to all who live in it and people had a right to be happy with the services they received. “If people are not happy with certain issues there are platforms to address such problems. “I am here to do the job that I have been chosen for. Working with other councillors I would like to ensure that the lives of people are changed. This will require the commitment and cooperation of all stakeholders, Councillors officials and communities,” Xulu said.
He says service excellence and service delivery will be top on his priority list and bearing in mind that rooting out fraud and corruption especially amongst councillors will be his major function. “Together we can do more,” he concluded.
