Deaf TV “DTV” Interviewed Jenelle Ramsami
Why did DTV do an Interview with you?
They were inspired by my achievements despite many obstacles I have overcame and being the first hearing impaired to appear in FHM and in FHM top 20. They interviewed me in order for many people out there to know about my success and my boldness to act and model.
Do you like being in front of the camera and if yes, why?
Oh yes definitely! I love being in front camera, because many people in the past have asked me if I am a model and I should be an actress. So I decided to take modeling to build up my confidence and to inspire the hearing and hearing impaired people. I am photogenic.
What did you enjoy most during the interview with DTV?
Being with the presenter Candice and the crew of DTV, they filmed me while I posed for the camera. It is a dream come true for me! And I told her I would love to be part of DTV as the model agency or to be a presenter too, to help bring in the deaf/hearing impaired people to model, act anything to do with performance arts.
When will the interview with DTV be broadcast?
They have told me in about two months’ time; probably soon.
We heard you are going to appear in a movie, tell us more about that, like what is the films name and what part do you play in it?
Yes, I did the act last year in December when I went to Cape town, I heard they were looking for hearing impaired people to act for the first Deaf movie of SA called *Lost Son* by CVC media. I played as Tessa, a vivacious and seductive character. She oozes sexiness in her earlier scenes and uses this to draw in men and particularly men with money. As the film progresses however, her character begins to develop, from a shallow ‘gold-digger’, into her true self, who is in actual fact an ambitious women, who is eager to make something of her life.

Who is your role model within the deaf community and why?
My role model is Deaf American actress Marlee Matlin and wondering “what if?”. I recall watching Reasonable Doubts with my parents at home and thinking, ‘just look at this empowered woman, that’s who I want to be some day’.
If you can choose any occupation, what would it be and why?
Actress (also dancing and modelling). Acting is a rewarding profession because I am able to choose roles that will help me to touch lives, inspire and motivate people. Acting is diverse and you get to choose a different role which challenges you as a person.
What’s your motto in life?
My smile lights up a million stars always. I create beauty with my hands and I radiate beauty from within. I make a fashion statement wherever I go and I always see beauty wherever go. Life is an experience that brings out the best in me. I triumph when my days are blue because I know my next experience will be much brighter than my worst. I am unique, beautiful, positive, strong-willed lady and above all, I welcome a challenge because that’s what makes me who I am and I am an overcomer… by Me.
