Action during the Lifesaving SA Champs2012 By Dennis Walthew
Dennis is a local amateur Photographer based in KZN, he loves his camera and take as much photos as often as he can, his passion for Photography shows in his work. Dennis says his love for Photography is more of a hobby than a profession, and this motivates him to continuously learn new techniques and skills to bring forth his best work. He currently distributed under a creative commons license- i.e. “you can do with the images as you please (Including Commercial use) and all he ask is that you acknowledge him as the author. As a result Dennis tend to take pictures for those organisation’s and people who would not be able to pay anyway, so the system works quite well! Although he does his Photography for a non-profitable cause, and for the love of it, he often gets request, and in that case he likes to keep his coast as low and cost-effective as possible.
Dennis prefers to take photos in an uncontrolled environment, like standing on the beach taking photos of a Surfer, or event during a race “I don’t always focus only on the winners of a race, but often focus on the guy/girl that finishes last – as you can see the persons Heart in that photo, I also love candid or rather un-posed images; they are always the best”
Dennis’s work has also been published in various Magazines and Newspaper articles, “through my sport-photography I like to promote as well as encourage people to take part in the specific sport, I focus on lifesaving especially and from my personal opinion I think it’s a sport or practice that goes rather un-appreciated in South Africa’
Even though I have a fulltime day-job, I can’t wait to grab the camera come weekend.
