It is said that when the Zulu King Shaka tasted the water in 1828, he said ‘Kanti amanza mtoti’, meaning ‘So, the water is sweet’, this is where the name Amanzimtoti originated from, and so the name marked the start of a colourful cultural heritage of Amanzimtoti.
