About East Coast- Electronic Cemetery-Waste Management:
East Coast- Electronic Cemetery-Waste Management is an initiative put together to aid in the removal of all your unwanted/broken electronics, free of charge. As our Environment is swiftly moving towards degradation and unnatural ruin, our contribution is therefore never ending. We as citizens of this Earth need to become aware of our own impact, whether small or big; it’s time to make a change. A change can be made with little to no effort at all, and in doing so we preserve our Environment for the future generations. United Nations identifies e-waste as an urgent and growing problem.
The UN Environment Programme has issued a wide-ranging report warning that e-waste in China and South Africa could double or even quadruple within the next decade, whereas India could experience a five-fold rise. Major hazards exist in the unregulated and informal recycling of circuit boards and techno gadgets, as processes like backyard incineration, for the retrieval of gold, generates toxic gases, while also being widely inefficient.
The whole points of the report is to encourage some global cooperation in setting up modern and safe recycling facilities in the affected countries to remodel the problem, though being generally more careful in our consumption and disposal of electronics wouldn’t do the environment’s chances, any harm either. It is therefore imperative that we tackle such problems in the correct way, with the correct resources.
Our aim is to collect all your unwanted or broken electronic waste, refurbish what we are able to, and donate 20% to the less fortunate schools or societies; or a charity of your choice or ours. We then sell the rest to those individuals who are unable to afford brand new items. The rest of the e-waste that is of no use, we dispose of in an environmentally sound manner. In doing so, we are helping those less privileged people have access to technology and appliances, by reducing the gap between the haves and the have not’s. Upon collection we issue a destructive certificate via email, and all serial numbers can be catalogued on a spreadsheet if need be, for asset verification right-offs. We are also EWASA certified.
