SCIENCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP TALK AT DEC
DURBAN ENTREPRENUER’S CLUB TALK ON THE SCIENCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
The Durban Entrepreneurs Club, founded by Grant Gavin in 2015, has become a meeting place for
Entrepreneurs in various industries from around KZN. The Club provides a platform for like minded
Individuals to get together on a monthly basis to network, share ideas and listen to a Guest Speaker – well chosen for their wealth of knowledge in their particular field.
Paul Smith, an expert in the science of start up businesses, was the Guest Speaker at the packed May meeting of the D.E.C, which was held as usual at the Durban Country Club. Paul, who currently manages an accelerator, Ignitor, which helps entrepreneurs start up their business and grow them, said that entrepreneurs are the drivers of growth in society. He made a point of explaining that the majority of start-up businesses do not need to be funded externally – the most successful companies grow organically. “What we need more of in South Africa is not external funding for entrepreneurs, but mentorship. Entrepreneurs also need to know that the key to success is to keep learning, to keep educating themselves “the more education you have, the more likely you are to start up a successful business – and to succeed at it.” He said.
The next DEC meeting will be held on June 22 with the founder of coding company Quirky30, and well-known motivational speaker, Sihle Tshabalala as Guest Speaker. Visit their website on www.durbanentrepreneursclub.co.za to find out about membership and book your seat.
