Abseiling Table Mountain

Abseiling Table Mountain is not for the weak at heart. Known as the highest commercial abseil in the world at 112 meters, Table Mountain’s ‘Long Drop’ consists of vertical cliffs, sandstone rock and breath-taking views of the Atlantic Coastline, Chapman’s Peak and the beautiful city of Cape Town.

Cape Adventure Zone
Cape Adventure Zone offers a half day trip. Daily departures with pick-ups and drop off by prior arrangement. No experience is needed although a reasonable level of fitness and lots of energy helps. Own drinks and snacks must be arranged and it is highly recommended to bring lots of drinking water. The recommended age restriction for abseiling is 10 years and upwards and for persons under the age of 18, a signed indemnity form is required from the parent or legal guardian whilst persons over 65 need a declaration of health. Abseiling Table Mountain can also be combined with a hike up Skeleton Gorge or other beautiful hikes up Table Mountain.

Abseil Africa

Extreme Scene’s
Extreme Scene’s package does not include collection or drop off from your accommodation, but they are more than willing to arrange this for you. The 2-way cable car ticket is also not included in their package but all necessary equipment and qualified instructors are. Extreme Scene encourages a hike to Table Mountain’s highest point via Platteklip Gorge to Maclear’s Beacon accompanied by their experienced guides.

Downhill Adventures
Downhill Adventures provide transportation, refreshments, abseil equipment and an expert guide. They require you to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable shoes and a healthy dose of insanity.
Downhill Adventures also offer several hiking trails up Table Mountain such as Platteklip Gorge along the face of the mountain or departing from Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens up Skeleton Gorge.
Downhill Adventures’ package includes all abseiling equipment, expert guides but excludes the cable way ticket. Their package costs R800.
