Q: How do I access the Civic Centre Station?
To access the Civic Centre Station, you need to purchase a myconnect card that can be bought at the entrance of the Civic Centre Station, any other MyCiTi station kiosks as well as participating retailers.
Q: What is a myconnect card?
The MyCiTi bus service is a card-based system.
Every passenger except children u/4 and less than 1m tall needs to have their own personal myconnect card. In order to travel, you need to load your myconnect card with money and use it like a debit card whenever entering or exiting a bus or station.
Q: So I can’t pay cash when getting on a MyCiTi bus?
No. You need a myconnect card. The myconnect card can be bought at any MyCiTi station kiosks and participating retailers. Your myconnect card comes with a 4-digit pin number [like most debit cards] and needs to be entered every time you load money on your myconnect card.
Q: When and how many times do I swipe/tap my myconnect card?
Every time you start and finish your journey.
When you start your journey either by entering a station or climbing onto a bus you need to swipe/tap your myconnect card against the validator. You must do the same again when exiting a station or getting off at a bus stop otherwise a penalty will be given.
Q: What are penalties?
If you fail to swipe/tap your myconnect card when starting or ending your journey or don’t have enough money on the card when attempting a journey, a penalty fare would be charged to your myconnect card.
Q: How much do I pay per journey?
Journeys are calculated by the distance travelled.
Distances are calculated by starting with each passenger’s individual swipe/tap when leaving a station or climbing on a bus at a designated bus stop until they exit a station or climb off at a bus stop of their choice.
