Western Cape Blood Service Launch Cookbook Filled with…
When donating blood, all your stats are checked to make sure it is safe to do so; one of those is your iron levels.
To help keep iron levels up, the Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) has put together a cookbook that is designed to feed you all the good things!
They are hoping to “iron-spire” more people to cook good food that is good for your blood and will help you successfully donate blood on your next visit to the donor centre.
“Maintaining a good Haemoglobin (Hb) level is very important for your health as well as for donating blood. We test your Hb level every time before you donate blood. In order to donate blood, men’s Hb level needs to be 13.5g/dl and females’ 12.5g/dl. Often blood donors get deferred because of a low Hb level.
