SA Relay Team Earn 2021 World Relay Champion Title
South Africans are the talk of the World Relays hosted in Poland over the weekend. The Men’s 4×100 team earned the gold by a fraction of a second.
National 100m champion Akani Simbine received the baton from teammate Clarence Munyai for the final leg with South Africa running slightly behind Brazil. Simbine ran the fastest he could, crossing the finishing line alongside Brazilian runner Paulo André Camilo de Oliveira.
Commentators all called a Brazilian win, but Akani stood in hope below the board, waiting to see the final win announcement. As the South African flag popped up, everyone screamed with excitement.
