Stolen bike recovered
An armed response officer has helped local police in the arrest of an alleged bicycle thief early on Sunday morning (15 October).
The officer was on patrol along Koelenhof Road (at around 03:53am) when he noticed a person pushing a BMX bike along the side of the road, walking in the direction of Bloekombos.
“When the officer noticed the man acting suspiciously, he decided to stop and question him,” says Verena Hulme, district manager (Cape Town North) for Fidelity ADT Security.
The officer established that the suspect had a backpack filled with copper pipes, but he could not explain where he found the pipes of the bike.
“SAPS were immediately called to the scene. The suspect was arrested on a charge of theft,” says Hulme.
It was later discovered that the bike was allegedly stolen from an address along the R304.
