Cape Town Fire Survivors Find Hope in NGO’s Lifeline
In the wake of devastating fires that ravaged Du Noon’s Site 5 informal settlements near Cape Town, many residents have found solace in a gesture of support.
Over 60 fire victims recently received much-needed food parcels, courtesy of the International WeLoveYou Foundation, in partnership with the provincial Social Development Department.
The destruction caused by the October and November fires left hundreds of families homeless, with their belongings reduced to ashes. Nandipha Dlabathi, a mother of two, shared her heartbreak: “I lost everything—fridges, cupboards, beds, even my kids’ school uniforms,” she told Eyewitness News. For Dlabathi and many others, the struggle to rebuild their lives has been overwhelming.
