Cape Town CBD set to get automated parking systems in 2019
Cape Town motorists will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of an automated parking system which is to be implemented in the city centre in 2019.
Local motorists know all too well the headache-inducing stress which results from the never-ending hunt for parking in Cape Town’s central business district (CBD). The City of Cape Town has admitted that the city is facing a massive traffic congestion problem, which all too often manifests in a dire shortage of available parking.
City officials have attempted to lessen the strain on the inner city by implementing public transport systems, namely the MyCiti bus service, and charging Cape Town motorists a premium fee to occupy a section of CBD tar. To park in the city centre costs an exorbitant amount. Worse still, is that the City of Cape Town is looking to increase these fees as a means to deter motorists from clogging up the streets.
