Lanzerac Spa: Winelands wellness at its finest
With Lanzerac Hotel reopening on the 1st of July, following a year-long project to restore its splendour, guests are invited to reinvigorate themselves too at the Lanzerac Spa – a winelands wellness retreat with a distinctly luxurious feel.
Boasting a skylight welcoming natural light and enormous windows framing views of the lush vineyards and the towering Stellenbosch mountains, the relaxation hideaway is a feast for the eyes as well as the soul.
Spa-goers will be greeted by the azure indoor heated swimming pool, enticing them to enjoy leisurely laps and a bubbling Jacuzzi beckoning them to soak stress away in an exquisite setting while sipping on a complimentary glass of the Lanzerac Méthod Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs Brut (Non-Vintage).
This sense of serenity is elevated within the seven new therapy rooms, where guests can select from a menu of treatments – ranging from touch and facial therapies, to massages and ancient Rasul rituals – that rejuvenate both mind and body. With Lanzerac having a history of cultivating award-winning wines for the past 326 years, it’s only fitting that products used in most of these treatments are made from grape cultivars, and as the Estate is home to the world’s very first bottled Pinotage, the AromaVine™ Pinotage Massage is a must for vino-loving visitors. The 60-minute stress and tension relieving session uses a fragrant antioxidant blend containing pure grapeseed oil and natural botanicals to deliver a truly unwinding experience.
Lanzerac Spa’s other relaxation-enhancing offerings include one of the few NeoQi® Mediq Cocoons in the country, four manicure and pedicure stations, a private relaxation lounge, a sauna, steam room, experience shower, mist room, and a fully-equipped fitness room, complete with personal trainer on request.
A day packed with pampering is bound to build up an appetite and at the Spa’s Vitality Corner, guests can feast on healthy fare, backdropped by leafy vineyards and views of the lush valley. The refreshing raw juices, ambrosial smoothies and gourmet salads (which can also be enjoyed within the folds of a whole-wheat wrap) are all made using fresh, locally sourced super foods to enhance the sense of wellbeing inspired by the Spa. For those wanting to treat themselves, there is also an assortment of wine-infused ice creams and sorbets. The Vitality Corner’s cuisine is best enjoyed on the deck under the awe-inspiring Jonkershoek Mountains and within reach of rows of grapevines.
With so many indulgences to experience, visitors will want to prolong their stay. Fortunately, the Lanzerac Hotel has 53 ornately styled rooms and suites offering five-star accommodation to choose from. Plus, there are three dining areas to sate all appetites – the Manor Kitchen serving opulent breakfast buffets or classical dinner dishes reimagined with a modern twist, the Taphuis offering leisurely lunches on its terrace and the Lanzerac Deli dishing up fresh, artisan produce for breakfast and lunch. Sensorial wine experiences also await in the elegant Tasting Room, enabling guests to sample some of the Estate’s award-winning wines. Guests can even experience a tour of the working wine cellar, guided by one of the Estate’s expert Wine Advisors.
Lanzerac Spa operates daily from 09h00 to 18h00 for treatments, and guests of the Hotel are able to use the hydro facilities until 21h00 daily.
