De Lille acknowledges water saving efforts by businesses
The drought-stricken City of Cape Town’s water calculator recommends that you flush your toilet a maximum of three times per day to help preserve water, Times Live reported.
City of Cape Town Mayor, Patricia De Lille has acknowledged great efforts made by some commercial properties during the water scarce period.
This includes the institution of Level Five restrictions and a further increase in pressure management, she said.
Level five water restrictions have been implemented which means businesses have to cut 20% on their water use.
Dam levels are still below 20%, and even though the City Of Cape Town has urged citizens to implement measures to save water, usage is still well above the 500 million unit target authorities want adhered to.
Measures to drive down consumption to 500 million liters of water per day are supplemented by other measures to augment the supply of water from non-surface water options by up to 500 million liters of water per day, which are now under way, the mayor said.
