1765 People Contribute Time to Gardens for Good Initiative
Since its inception, the Gardens for Good initiative has planted over 3,700 plants and 220 trees thanks to the help of 1765 people. Eight schools and community spaces in the Western Cape have been the beneficiaries of new gardens, creating green spaces where they are needed most.
Many marginalised communities are lacking in green spaces which is what inspired the Greenpop initiative. Schools and communities are being turned into beautiful indigenous green spaces which is changing the urban landscape.
“This project is geared towards reinvigorating Cape Town’s urban landscapes with verdant, biodiverse sanctuaries. By integrating indigenous plant species into the urban fabric, Gardens for Good aims to fortify the city’s green infrastructure, promoting ecosystem services and enhancing the well-being of its communities.
