The Worldart Gallery in Church Street was opened in 2004 by Charl Bezuidenhout. After his studies and working abroad he founded Worldart Gallery in Cape Town. The type of art that Worldart Gallery curates, exhibits, manages and sells can be described and categorized as Urban and Pop Art.
Pop Art can be described as “art that includes aspects of mass culture” like the imagery that is used, in advertising, labeling, news and other ordinary cultural objects.
Andy Warhol is synonym to this art movement that emerged in the 1950s. Urban Art on the other hand is a style that relates to city life. It is usually an artist’s passionate expression of their surroundings and can also be described as street art incorporating graffiti styles.
Worldart Gallery believes that an artist should be free to create their art without the distraction of marketing and selling…
Therefore Worldart Gallery offers this service, and plays the vitally important role of creating, building and nurturing the relationship between artist and client. Worldart Gallery also assists in finding buyers for paintings and does all arrangements regarding packaging and shipment of art to anywhere in the world.
Worldart Gallery also offers Worldart Prints, encouraging art lovers to build their own collections by offering limited Prints at affordable prices. These prints are both signed and numbered by the artist and are made by using high quality paper and ink. The gallery regularly hosts various exhibitions, either in their intimate gallery space or other venues. The Worldart Gallery space prides itself with minimalistic white walls giving the contemporary pop art an uninterrupted space of its own. The gallery also has an upstairs section showcasing further art exhibitions.
Expect to find work created by the following artists at Worldart Gallery:
