Why everyone needs a “cave”
We sometimes get lost in the roles we play in our lives mother, father, teacher or lawyer.
That’s why everyone should have a “cave” – a room where they can kick back and relax.
By having a cave you get to enjoy your leisure time and it’s a foolproof way to boost happiness, release your creativity and positively impact your self-confidence.
Here are some reasons why you need your own little safe haven.
Restart
Everybody gets stressed out about the pressures of work and when you come home all you want to do is unwind. You could be facing hectic deadlines or have a tyrannical boss. A cave serves as an area where you can relax and forget about the stresses of life. You get to play as long as you want. Your cave is your escape where you can spend hours on your hobby. If you love to paint or draw, you’ll have the space to be as creative as you want without others disturbing your peace.
As a stay at home mom or dad, your life might revolve around serving your family. You might spend the day doing the family’s laundry, cooking and helping the kids with homework and you might need the space and quiet time to recharge. Your secret hideaway could be your safe haven, where you spend the day painting your nails or reading that book all your friends have been going on about.
Noise level
You can have your friends over for the night and they can make as much noise as they want. You don’t have to worry about the noise level that might negatively affect other people in the house. And you also don’t have to stress about disturbing your family’s beauty sleep. And let’s face it, when a large group tends to get together, there is always mayhem. Whether it’s catching up with your friends latest antics or watching a hilarious blockbuster on screen, it’s a perfect opportunity to bond and forget about your anxieties.
Children’s retreat
Children can also have their own playroom too, where can spend endless hours playing. This room is perfect because, as a parent, you don’t have to worry about the house being in an utter mess. The kids can spend time playing with their toys reading, solving puzzles or drawing. The play area solves a lot of problems as you can avoid your kids using your lounge as a jungle gym and messing everywhere.
But where will you find the space for a cave? Well, here are some options.
Garage
You can use a garage for your cave. You can remodel it by adding new furniture or painting your walls a different colour. You can add all sorts of accessories to make it welcoming and warm. You can decorate it with ornaments, vases and a desk. A garage doesn’t have the best lighting so, by installing adequate lighting, you can make it a bright and good enough for you to finish all your activities. Add furniture and make sure your lounge suite is comfortable enough for you to relax on. Whether you’ll use your cave to watch T.V or knit, it needs to be a place where you feel like you can recharge.
Spare room
Although a spare room isn’t situated in a remote place, it still makes for a viable cave. Add new hues, plants and décor . And make sure there’s a desk space where you can spend the day on the craft project you’ve been wanting to finish. Your cave is your domain so you can decorate it the way you want. You can make it a quiet and tranquil space or a loud bold room where you can freely express yourself.
Shed
If you have a shed on your property, you can turn it into your very own cave. You can use it as a craft room or music room. You can add storage containers where you can place all the materials you’ll need. You can add a desk and comfortable chair. If your cave is small, use multi-functional furniture that will save on space.
At some point in time, the stresses of life get to us. A cave is a place where you can find yourself and recharge. Where you don’t have to think about the heaps of laundry and piles of dishes you still have to do. You can completely rest and re-energise.
In your cave, you can just sit back, kick off your shoes and watch your favourite soapie, play video games, paint or write. You will get to rejuvenate and forget about about all the work that built up on your desk or any personal issues you might be going through.
And once you are rested, you’ll be able to perform better at work and you will be more present with family.
