What should my child study in 2015?
Tertiary education is one of the primary ways we find an entrance into the job market. Once in the job market, we want to earn enough to live comfortable lives – whether through monthly salaries or regular clients. The key question is what kinds of studies will help guarantee that kind of life.
For example, economy courses are an excellent indicator of the kind person any employer would want. For example, MIT’s introductory course to economics highlights the extent of economics.
“This course introduces microeconomic concepts and analysis, supply and demand analysis, theories of the firm and individual behavior, competition and monopoly, and welfare economics. Students will also be introduced to the use of microeconomic applications to address problems in current economic policy.”This seems like an obvious area to study, since every business needs to know its market, its customers, competition, etc. Economics draws from many disciplines and areas, requiring knowledge from domains that seem tangentially related.
Speaking of, communications is a key focus. For example, a UCLA course on communications indicates it covers “fields of mass communication and interpersonal communication. Study of modes, media, and effects of mass communication, interpersonal processes, and communication theory”
Everything is about communication. You can be the best business in the world, but that will be useless if people don’t know about them. This is why among so many college courses, a communication one is highly beneficial.
And, of course, an essential focus is computer programming. Most courses aim at creating or teaching entry-level programmers. The focus is essential design in programming practice before construction; importantly they is a focus on effective programming skills to solve business problems.
Here again we see the importance of focus on business aspects. With everything becoming digital and getting a computer revolution, no doubt every business wants more tech-savvy individuals. This benefits the business in terms of keeping up with where their clients are and exist; it means they can stay ahead of the competition. But for you, it means ample opportunity to grow and obtain a stable job. It’s one of the most desirable and lucrative career paths you can take.
What’s interesting, of course, is that other careers we know to be fruitful – such as medicine, accounting, and so on – all benefit from doing these kinds of courses. But these courses are supposed to be manageable and be able to compliment your career decision. While you can become a sole expert in these fields, a lot of these courses can be done in themselves and can round off your CV with skills any business would want.
