Teens doing business
DOING BUSINESS DURING YOUR SCHOOL LUNCH BREAK… TEEN ENTREPRENEURS ARE MAKING IT HAPPEN…
[May 2015] Entrepreneurship has become a global buzzword, which if you do a Google search produces over 70 million results in 0.33 seconds… These results include institutions offering courses in entrepreneurship, to organisations and individuals supporting entrepreneurs with funding and a few stories of entrepreneurs that have achieved success through their innovative ideas and ventures.Amidst all the information, it is hard to find a kindred spirit whose story you connect with, to draw inspiration from. It is with this understanding in mind that the SA Teen Entrepreneur Foundation has created the Awaken the Giant in You breakfast series, to create a platform for successful business men and women to share their stories with SA’s teen, their parents, government leaders and all those who have a role to play in youth development in the country.
The purpose of the event is for these icons in business to share their stories to inspire and instil a culture of entrepreneurship in SA teens.
“Whilst many still have the mentality of creating employable school leavers, we as a foundation want to create a generation of employers who leave school with viable businesses or business ideas,” says Lydia Zingoni, Founder and Director of the SA Teen Entrepreneur Foundation.
“They will not be a generation that seeks employment, but instead they will be ready to employ their peers and add to the economic growth of the country, and if they get a job, they will be entrepreneurs within and add great value” she added.
The next breakfast in the series is taking place on Saturday 30 May 2015 at 08h30 at the Southern Sun, Newlands Cape Town. The speaker for the morning is internationally renowned, 24-year old British entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker- Sabirul Islam.
Having started his first business – a web design company at the age of 14, Sabirul is no stranger to the notion of trying your hand at business whilst juggling your schooling. With an extensive list of accolades and awards as well as multiple successful business ventures and books to his name, Sabirul’s 10-year business journey is current and relatable for SA Teens to be inspired by.
The event is open to all who are interested in business, entrepreneurship and youth development. Tickets cost R150 for adults and R75 for students. Bookings for the breakfast can be made on-line at or by contacting Nadia Snyders on 021 794 2767 or nadia.snyders@teenentrepreneur.co.za.
