Makeup mistakes that are aging you
Makeup is used to beautify and accentuate features. But as the saying goes: “Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.”
In this case, makeup can emphasise your beauty and make you appear younger, yet too much of it can make you look older than you are.
Using too much foundation
A thick foundation will settle into the fine lines and remove the natural glow from your skin. On your next purchase, avoid foundations that are described as velvet, long-wearing and matte. Instead, choose a foundation which has a sheer liquid formula with light-diffusing pigments. If you have dry skin, it’s recommended you exfoliate three times a week and always apply a moisturiser after exfoliating. Foundation is used to conceal blemishes, but this is only a short-term solution. Use skincare treatments such as Afridem peeling gel to completely get rid of your blemishes.
Too much lip liner
Lip liner is a brilliant make-up pen which prevents lipstick colour from feathering over lines around the mouth. Carefully choose the lip liner you use. A lip liner that’s too heavy, with a dark colour, will make your lips look tight and pursed. To give a natural effect, the lip liner should match the colour of your lips, not the lipstick. A creamy formula will evenly fill your lips and won’t leave any dry patches.
Using mascara on your lower lashes
Applying mascara on your lower lashes can make your eyes look droopy and emphasise dark circles. Rather than using mascara on your lower lashes, curl your upper lashes. Put on a bit of volumising mascara on the roots of the lashes and slowly work your way up the to the ends for a lifting effect.
Use blush
Use blush to instantly give your cheeks a rosy flush and a little lift. Smile and apply the blush slightly above the fleshiest part of your cheek. Apply the blush a circular motion, not a straight line, heading toward the temples. Be sure to use a big fluffy brush. Be careful not to apply too much blush so that you don’t end up looking like you’re overheating.
