LEAP School Farewell Breakfast Feast for the Grade 12’s
In the morning the place was alive. People were free, wide awake and hungry. They were just ready for Breakfast.
LEAP school hosted a Breakfast feast and a farewell ceremony, (organised by Grade 11’s) as a way of saying good luck for the exams and farewell to the grade 12’s of 2012.
However, its not really farewell because they are always welcome to come back at anytime. It has been a long journey for all of them and this is a way of saying congratulations to the “High School Survivors”.
“He who works like a slave will eat like a king,”
as Marcus Garvey had once said.
Having interviewed some of the Grade 12’s, Nombulelo Babe said she’ll be leaving her dance skills and her leadership skills as a legacy at LEAP school. Siyabonga Dike had to agree, even adding that he’ll be leaving his gumboot skills. They both said they were excited about leaving but felt sad for going because they’ll be leaving with memorable memories.
”The start of a new journey is always exciting.”
A message from the Grade12’s (Nkosikhona Magwebele and Sive Fikelepi) to the LEAP family:
”Through determination, confidence, being yourself and consideration success is most likely to come your way.”
A message that they got from Nwabisa and Siyasanga was,
“Life is not a remote control, you cannot press forward and backward. You just have to be careful. Grade 12 is a preparation of real life, this journey is not easy. From now on you must set your priorities straight because the real journey has just begun. Use all challenges as stepping stones. And remember, we can transform our communities through education.”
The LEAPSA’s also had a word to say,
“LEAP makes dreams possible, how you use these possibilities is up to you. Even if you fail, you have the choice of picking yourself up After all we fall seven times and wake up eight times- Never give up.”
Each and every year at LEAP there comes a time when we have to celebrate and congratulate those who have worked hard. And once again Asanda Mini did it again in LEAP1- she took the certificates for Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting and Information Technology (I.T). Zukile Sigigaba said she couldn’t have them all, so he claimed the certificates for Business Studies, Life Orientation and IsiXhosa. However, Onela Makabane didn’t allow him to take the IsiXhosa certificate alone. He (Onela) also got the English certificate. Mihlali Yozi took a certificate for Computer Application Technology; Sifundo Mpisekhaya claimed the Life Science certificate. Having ranked the students, it was found that Zukile Sigigaba took 3rd place. 2nd place was taken by Onela Makabane and 1st place was taken by Asanda Mini.
LEAP 2 held the same ceremony where Simthandile Jilaji took certificates like she was taking candy from a baby. She took certificates for: Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting, Information Technology and Life Orientation. IsiXhosa certificate was taken by Asithandile Ngebulana. Sive Fikelepi also got one for Life Science and Business Studies. Wendy Mxoli got rewarded for her hard work in Computer Application Technology. The LEAP 2 grades 12’s were also ranked: taking 3rd place was Sive Fikelepi. 2nd place was taken by Yonela Maxamba and in 1st place was Simthandile Jilaji.
The ceremony was wonderful and we at LEAP all wish the grade 12’s good luck on their coming final exams. Focus is very vital at this point in time. They survived 4 years in High School that means they’ll be able to live through the coming exam period.
