Wild Woman is Julia Ariete’s bold, funny, and thought-provoking solo show that delves into the journey of a woman reclaiming her power through the lens of her menstrual cycle. In a world that often suppresses feminine energy, she navigates the delicate balance between divine femininity and raw female rage. By aligning her cycle with the moon’s rhythms, she unveils her true essence—releasing shame and embracing a new, liberated form of womanhood.
Drawing inspiration from archetypes like witches and the woman on the moon, as well as historical figures such as Medusa and Lilith, Wild Woman challenges the narratives that have shaped our understanding of femininity. The show invites us to rethink history and reclaim a more equal and empowered future.
Making its world premiere in Cape Town, Wild Woman debuts at Theatre Arts in Observatory on March 25th at 7 PM, followed by performances at:
