Community Chest Carnival 2016
We recently attended the Community Chest Carnival in Maynardville…
The Community Chest Carnival, set in the Maynardville Park adjacent to Little Chelsea in Wynburg, offers a great family outing. There are rides aplenty for the children (and young-at-heart adults) and many food stalls as well as bar areas.
A highlight – and new addition to the carnival this year – is the use of the amphitheatre area.
Many may have already watched numerous Shakespeare and Ballet productions at the amphitheatre, but it was a delight to see that this year it was introduced to the carnival as a pop up theatre and open air cinema.
An entertaining production with Loukmaan Adams (of David Kramer’s District Six Kanala), in collaboration with community theatre, and a talented set of musicians will keep you entertained.
The Carnival aims to support the community – both in sourcing vendors and suppliers from the area – as well as funds raised being used to support charities that serve the community of the Western Cape.
The verdict: well worth supporting – good value for money with a great atmosphere in the park….says Shelley Searra & Linda Classe
