A new wave of acts announced for Endless Daze Festival 2018
The organisers of Endless Daze have just released another seven artists that will grow an already glorious line-up for this year’s festival:
Most notably are legendary Zambian Rock band We Intend To Cause Havoc; or as they more familiarly go: WITCH. Seeing their golden days during the 70s, WITCH captivated their local audiences of the time and spearheaded the now historical genre Zamrock. Their sound fuses influences from the Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Purple as well as African rhythms. Lead singer, and sole surviving member, Emmanuel “Jagari” Chanda banded with Dutch musician Jacco Gardner in 2016 and together formed the now 6-person strong band that will be performing songs from WITCH’s 5-album catalogue.
The Brother Moves On (TBMO) joins the local headline showing and describe themselves as a South African performance art ensemble from Johannesburg. TBMO’s sound is a “tradition-trouncing trans-Atlantic Afro-centric futuristically ancient fusion that jack knifes between off-world spectral dub-metal, hyper-rhythmic rock psychedelia, indie-township and astro-afro-free-jazz.”
Other artists joining the bill include Msaki: a singer-song writer from East London. Describing her style as ‘indie afro folk’, she has a unique and distinctive identity that draws from her Xhosa tradition and weaves together global elements that form an authentically fresh sound.
The Cape Town artist stable is coalesced by high-energy garage outfit, Runaway Nuns; disco-punkers, Julia Robert; recently formed psychedelic garage act, Them Fads; and groovy beat-dropper DJ duo, Holy Funk. Even with this blossoming collection of acts, Endless Daze hasn’t settled yet and the organisers promise another array of exciting artists to conclude the musical setting for the festival.
COLLABORATION WITH THE BEACH CO-OP
Endless Daze is also proud to announce their partnership with non-profit organisation: The Beach Co-op.
This year, in effort with The Beach Co-op, Endless Daze will further improve the environmental footprint of the festival. With previous events, there has been an encouragement of lift shares to the festival and Endless Daze will continue to do so with this year’s event. Additionally there will be an agenda to reduce the amount of waste generated at the festival, especially when it comes to plastic; and an increased effort will be made when working with the food vendors, the bar and the waste management team to help achieve this.
Endless Daze will also be inviting festivalgoers to take part in a beach clean up at the festival, coordinated by the Beach Co-op and using the Dirty Dozen methodology. This entails counting and recording the top 12 most commonly found items on the beach.
To celebrate the partnership, and further generate awareness of this mission, there will be a beach clean up and pre-party in Cape Town in September (International Coastal Cleanup month) to warm you up for Endless Daze 2018! In addition to this, there will be prizes including: festival tickets with Vans and Psych Night hampers up for grabs, for those that take part.
Endless Daze is proudly partnered with Vans South Africa whom continue to show their full support and enthusiasm for growth of the South African music culture. This event is also generously supported by Newlands Spring Brewery and Jägermeister.
