NSPCA’s plea against wild animal trade on Sun City Road
Illegal Animal Trade on Sun City Road
The trade of wild animals along the Sun City Road has become a very big concern and the NSPCA (National Council of SPCA’s) has been circulating images since late 2013 to try and deter people from purchasing these animals.
The most common species include Chameleons and Bush Babies, but the trade is not limited to these. Sadly some of these activities happen within the boundaries of the Brits area.
Often people are tempted to by the animals and then take them to shelters or sanctuaries in an attempt to rescue them. Although this is very noble, it unfortunately only adds fuel to the fire. Once the animal has been sold, another is simply caught to take its place. There is then also seen to be a demand for the animals and trade operations are actually increased instead of being shut down.
It is therefore asked that you under no circumstances purchase any of these animals being sold.
Instead immediately report sightings of this illegal trade to (078) 331 7570
