Worst Year to Date for Southern African Rhinos
Urgent appeal for aid as Southern Africa records highest ever record of Rhino Deaths.

Dr Peter Rogers treats another calf who has just become an orphan. The calf is just over a year old. He was hacked by poachers who killed his mother by repeatedly stabbing her with spears – one can only hope she had passed before they hacked off her horns.
The official statistic records 1, 215 Rhino have been brutally butchered in Southern Africa this past year. Rhino horn is illegally harvested from this protected species in the most barbaric manner and shipped to Asia where many still falsely hope the horn will help with a sagging libido.
To date the immature calves have been left to starve beside the corpse of their mother. Dr Peter Rogers is a talented wild life veterinarian who often gives of his services to help where he can. In recent days he was called to the gruesome scene of a mature female stabbed to death by the repeated use of spears. Her one year old calf was injured in the fray, with a deep gash on the leg. Wardens found the injured calf rooted to the side of his mother’s body.
Rhino calves seldom survive in the wild without the protective help of their mothers.
In an effort to preserve this rapidly dwindling species from extinction, various rhino orphanages are being built to home the defenseless young. Fundimvelo Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage with help from the Lawrence Anthony Earth Organization is one such sanctuary.
Fundimvelo Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage is hoping to raise funds to grow and develop further. To donate $10 or R 100 to this worthwhile cause, please go to: http://igg.me/at/rhino-orphanage/x/4135786 to donate or share this campaign TODAY!
