Schoolgirl by Day – Dynamic Fundraiser After: Storm Mirtle.
Fifteen Year Old Ashton International College Debutante, Storm Mirtle is aptly named. The teenager is like a small tornado when it comes to stirring up fundraising interest in Ballito for charity.
‘Imported’ into Ballito less than a year and a half ago, the Gauteng born beauty is already making waves in the seaside community. With experience at Pretoria Youth Theatre and SA Dance inclusion in freestyle form, she readily walked into the role of ‘Marty’ for Ashton College’s Production of “Grease” and is currently an Ashton Debutante,
After initially taking an advanced course at ICE models in Durban, Mirtle’s mother pleaded with her to take a more ‘local’ interest: the teenager joined Ballito based Simply YOU-nique Modeling Agency with Karen Landman and has barely glanced back, taking part in various modelling events including the extravaganza of design by Kevin Ellis featured at the recent Coastal Living Bru Festival at Mr Price Pro.
Together with Landman, Storm has arranged a Fashion Fundraising Event for Woman’s Day on 8 August, raising funds for the underprivileged as part of her Debutante portfolio.
Storm organized well-known Jenni Gault to come all the way from PE to showcase her beautiful selection of jewellery at the fashion event to be held at The Boathouse. Jenni has been invited to show her designs on the stage at a premier event in Paris in October this year. Proudly South African and with a strong local following, Jenni has taken her collection to New York, Las Vegas and Shanghai within the last year, and is due to be in London, Hong Kong and Paris by the end of 2014.
The event will also include local designers, celebrities, former Mrs South Africa finalists, Miss KZN, Miss Ballito 2013 as well as Miss Ballito 2014 finalists will be walking the ramp. Further Details.
More than meets the Eye
With beauty, grace and charm, the schoolgirl is also an athlete, singer and hip-hop dancer. Storm swims for her school’s 1st Team, plays Soccer and is a Cheerleader. As an exuberant dancer, she is at home at the local Sugardance studio, practicing moves for upcoming events such as the Mr Price Pro flashmob…and if that is not enough to keep her busy, the young model likes to assist other models with hair and make-up before and event in the style of makeover artist, Kirsty Turco at MUYM Burnedale.
Although currently representing KZN in Gauteng for a provincial dance competition, Storm will soon be back in Ballito to continue her storm of activity, raising funds for yet another worthy cause.
