Make 2023 Your Year
With it almost being time to tear back the first page of the 2023 calendar, many of us saw the year in by setting our intentions and New Year’s resolutions, however, these have already been forgotten now, about a month into 2023?
Some resolutions include doing more, or sometimes doing less. Common ones include losing weight, improving fitness or making more money.
As much as these goals may be important, we often lose focus and motivation early into committing to them. Below are some pointers that may assist in changing your approach and help you get back on track to making 2016 your best year yet!
1. Rethink your goals
Set yourself challenges that recognize and address your true value and put self-care at the forefront. This can make you feel more full-filled and make you more optimistic. By shifting your attention to your value and self-care it often addresses underlying core issues and needs related to what you are really trying to achieve.
For example if weight loss is your goal, focus on self-love and self-acceptance. By doing this you honour yourself. Part of this may be feeding your body healthy, nourishing and balanced meals as well as increasing your amount of exercise. In that, with a better sense of self-worth, weight loss will be achieved starting from the inside and moving out.
2. Don’t worry about how your life and goals “look”.
Focus on how it “feels” to have achieved that certain goal and focus on what is important to you and not to others.
3. Trust that you are exactly where you need to be.
Stop trying so hard to be where you think you should be, and see that you are exactly where you need to be.
4. Be patient.
Stop rushing things that need time to grow. Keep focused on your goals, continue to work towards them with consistency but give it time. Rome wasn’t built in a day after all!
5. Set ‘SMART’ goals:
Specific – Be clear about what you want to achieve and how you plan to get there.
Measurable – be precise so you can measure your progress and success. Without a noticeable difference and measurable change, you will miss out on the achievements.
Attainable – by setting your goals too high you could easily become despondent. Set realistic goals that motivate you.
Relevant – be in line with your interests, and make sure your goals contribute to your self-development.
Time – have a deadline. As the sense of urgency is increased it keeps you more motivated.
6. Have a vision board
Write down your goals and intentions.
7. Start calling your dreams your Plan.
Live like you already have it in your life.
8. Look in the mirror and be proud of all that you see.
Be kind and fall in love with yourself
9. Explore your belief systems with each goal.
Do you believe that you can achieve that goal? Without truly believing your ability you will be left with an empty goal
10. Celebrate!
Lastly, but most certainly not the least, never forget to celebrate yourself and your milestones! Regardless of how big or small they may be to you!
