God’s Promise Fulfilled in Ballito Village with Ched’s Creations

Surrounded by words and works of Christian faith, Ched’s Creations is a little gift shop in Ballito Village fulfilling its owner’s mission to provide a safe harbor for folk in the midst of the storms of life. Shop manager, Emmie Lings testifies to her own unexpected arrival at a place of peaceful rest when she needed it most.

Emmie Lings’ world as she knew it ended with the death of her husband of thirty four years. Thrown into the unfamiliar wilderness of widowhood, Emmie had only her Christian faith to fall on as a scary future alone loomed before her. Taking her fear directly to God, she prayed His hand in her life in a way she would simply know it was His will working in her life.

Ched's Creations Finding herself at the open door of Ched’s Creations, a small Christian bookshop and gift store in the Ballito Village, she talks of the serendipitous encounter with Ched’s owner Cherie. “I was looking for a sign from God to take me on my next step,” says Emmie, “Cherie was looking for a sales person to help manage the store. I am not a sales person. I felt I was not capable of doing the front of store work.”

On the point of turning away, Emmie’s eyes were miraculously drawn to the words of plaque in the store: “Do not Fear Tomorrow, for God is already there.” “The words were a clear confirmation of the scripture I had been given that morning,” admits Emmie. “For me, that was the only confirmation I needed that God clearly wanted me to take this post.”

The rest, as they might say, is blessed history. Today, Emmie works out her days surrounded by her first love, the scriptures and words of God, blessed in the knowledge she is in the very place of His choosing and making sales not as a sales person, but as a happy messenger of God.
