Community Mourns as Heaven Welcomes Another Angel
The Ballito Community is wracked with grief for little Chelsy Misken who accidentally drowned at her home swimming pool this week.
Friends and strangers have taken to social media pages to offer their heartfelt prayers and condolences for her family. Many have shown their support for the family by adopting the beautiful pink Facebook Profile, created in remembrance of Chelsy, as their own
Three year old Chelsy inadvertently wandered into the family’s swimming pool in Simbithi on Monday evening. Quintin Power of the Specialized Rescue Unit said they tried to resuscitate her for two hours without success. IPSS Medical Rescue and Netcare 911 paramedics attempted advanced life support resuscitation but despite all effort, Chelsy died.
Although film and television shows often portray quick action CPR to successfully and heroically save a drown victim, in reality only 3% of drown victims are saved in this way. Many victims recover but die later in hospital due to secondary drowning.
Chelsy’s Memorial will be held at Umhlali All Souls Anglican Church on Friday, 31 July at 10h30.
