An Oasis of Authentic Trendiness in Ballito Old Town
Aim for Florida at Spring Break. Hop between the Greek Islands in Summer. Sojourn in Bali, Indo and Thailand….or spend a lazy afternoon at East Oasis in Ballito Old Town. This is Ballito’s trendiest cosmopolitan hangout…no shoes required.

Global travelers will recognize the ambiance. Casually relaxed in a carefully upmarket way. The sort of hangout foreign travelers migrate to on vacation and disrupt ongoing plans forward to stay on for another week…and yet another…
East Oasis Trading Co is the recently launched Woodfire Grill and Cocktail Bar in the trending old Ballito Town. The international flare is distinct and wielded successfully by it’s enthusiastic owner, Sean Toubkin. Drawing from more than two decades of hospitality work within the Sun International Group of hotels and his own globe trotting adventures, East Oasis has the definitive stamp of ‘This Will Work.’ on it.
“I am no make-a-quick-buck interloper,” says Toubkin, who remembers Ballito as a casual family holiday town with just a few family holiday homes hugging the promenade area. “Anything worth while takes time to establish itself. This is my home now and aim to be here for a long time yet.”
Toubkin may plan for slow growth in the establishment, but the public response thus far is set to make this ‘The’ after beach party spot very quickly!

The signature slogan for East Oasis Trading Co is “Celebrating the Authenticity of You”, a key ingredient for the happy ambiance of the casual restaurant. “I don’t want people to book,” says Toubkin,” I prefer people to simply drop in and stay awhile simply because it feels good and suits them.”
The cosmopolitan menu aims to provide gourmet tastes at value for money rates. The popular Smash Burger, for example, is unlike a regular burger patty with a combination of breadcrumbs and minced meat, but cuts of beef literally ‘smashed’ together and served quite rare, offering pure beef flavor. At a cost less than a branded Take-Away burger too.
Whether you go for a platter of snack tastes to share with friends or indulge in a full meal such as the Baby Chicken Limonati, the food comes with an owner’s promise to serve the freshest, most naturally produced fare in town.
“I have carefully selected all my suppliers,” says Toubkin, “my coffee is brought to me from a small coffee roastery in Umhlali, my chickens are from a local supplier, beef cuts are from grain fed animals and local produce farmers all assure me the best, freshest ingredients for my dishes.”
I choose local suppliers for the top quality ingredients they can supply”

Serving superb coffees from ten, scrumptious light lunches and carrying later into the evening, East Oasis Woodfire Grill and Cocktail Bar in the lower Ballito Village promises to be the sort of place you return again, and again and again!
