Africa Marine & Leisure Expo set to return to Scottburgh’s Beaches
The Africa Marine & Leisure Expo which is now in its third year, is on track to make its triumphant return to the beaches of Scottburgh and other Umdoni locations on 1st and 2nd November 2014.
The event will bring with it the atmosphere of fun and excitement for which it has become renowned, and continues to promote a message of conservation through the celebration of our oceans. The Expo is designed to offer something of interest to members of all ocean user groups- from the surfers that ride the South Coast’s famous waves, to the scuba divers, anglers, freedivers and jet-ski enthusiasts that share the ocean past backline. It is also designed to underline the importance of water as a resource, and to introduce conservation initiatives that will help protect our coastline so that it can be enjoyed by future generations in the same way that we enjoy it today.
The Africa Marine & Leisure Expo is the brainchild of South Coast Tourism, and boasts an impressive range of displays, exhibitors, performances, competitions and lectures. The central stage will provide a platform for talented local musicians, for the Miss Marine Queen beauty pageant, and for talks by international experts in the field of science and conservation. The conservation theme will extend into the tented stalls and exhibitions area, where representatives from organisations like the Clansthal Conservancy and Shark Angels will be on hand to talk to the public about their work. This year’s Africa Marine & Leisure Expo will also offer visitors the opportunity to get involved with protecting our magnificent coastline right away, by taking part in the event’s beach clean up walk to Black Rock River.
If conservation is one theme of the Africa Marine & Leisure Expo, water-based fun is most definitely the other. The Outdoor Expo section of the event will present a series of stands and exhibitions dedicated to all things marine- to boating, diving, fishing, surfing and more. This year, the expo is focused particularly on the underwater treasures of the South Coast, and on the world famous reef and shark diving opportunities just off the beaches of Scottburgh and Umkomaas. In light of this, many of the area’s dive centres will be represented at the event, and some will be offering generous weekend packages to encourage visitors to see for themselves the wonders beneath the waves. Spectators will also be able to enjoy the expo’s triathlon event, and indulge in some retail therapy at the many stalls of the Craft Market. The day will be filled with fun for guests of all ages, and is se t to be a perfect day out for families. Children will love the Beach Sport Fun Zone, the onsite bouncy castle, and the kid’s rock fishing competition- after which, plenty of refreshments will be available for purchase from the Food Truck Revolution Market. The market will showcase quality foods from around the country, and is sure to be a gastronomer’s dream come true.
Make sure you don’t miss out on this weekend of fun, and come out to celebrate all the very best things about life on the South Coast. For more information, please contact Vicky or call 082 812 7944.
