SUNSHINE AT SPLASHY FEN 2022
DAY 1
As Day One of the 4-Day music and lifestyle festival kicks off in the rolling hills of Underberg, the sun is shining, the campers are smiling and there is a clear buzz of excitement in the air as the festival returns after a two-year covid-break for its 31st edition.
With temperatures expected to reach a high of 26 today, the oldest and longest-running music festival in South Africa will not disappoint! At the time of this release, the festival has welcomed a total of 1622 people to the site – with many more set to arrive over the next 24 hours.
An updated venue layout boasts strategically designated and decorated areas for all to enjoy, entertainment and chill zones, craft stalls and artisanal food vendors, separate camping areas for families, teepee owners, general happy campers, and those who prefer something a bit less rustic at the Harambee Tented Village.
Over 150 local acts are set to play across 4 unique stages over the next 4 days. Today’s musical line-up includes the likes of FREDDY-L, The Kickstands, Angel Mazibuko, Dawn Melanie, Umenzi Mbonambi, Nish Pillay, and more. Fans can also look forward to a thrilling Silent Disco on the main stage tonight, which is sure to get the feet tapping and bodies moving to the sounds of 2 in-house DJS competing for the headphones.
Tomorrow sees the opening of the ever-popular Corona River Stage with live music, fresh food, river frolicking, chill zones, and more of the Splashy Fen vibes that fans have been missing out on. The Main Stage will also kick off tomorrow with South African favourites Mango Groove, Mali Zulu, 4 AM, Veranda Panda, and Steve Umculo.
MUSIC AND MORE AT SPLASHY FEN 2022
Day 2
Day Two has brought even more sunshine, great music and feel-good vibes
at the 2022 edition of Splashy Fen Music Festival.
There may be rumours of rain on the way but festival-goers are not letting that stop them from enjoying everything that Splashy Fen Music Festival has to offer. Over 3 500 revellers have already arrived on site, with an additional 1 400 set to arrive throughout the weekend.
This Friday, while many festival-goers are splishing and splashing down by the Corona River Stage and braving the fresh river waters, others are enjoying the selection of delicious food on offer, chilling out at one of the many designated chill areas, and just taking in every part of the festival experience. From the Pushkin Vodka Corner to daily wine tasting with Durbanville Hills, a hot coffee and chocolate-dripping croissant from the Marley Coffee village, activities at the Kids Zone, Fire dancers, and aerial yoga artists, plus trail running, drumming lessons, and our daily on-site broadcast with East Coast Radio, the festival site is alive with activity.
GOOD TIMES AND GUMBOOTS
Day 3
Day Three has kicked off on the beautiful, and somewhat wet, Splashy Fen Farm in Underberg… but come rain or shine, festival-goers are determined to make the most of their time at South Africa’s friendliest music and lifestyle festival.
One such fan is Josh Reynolds, a local Durbanite who has been battling stage 4 cancer and wanted to make a trip to Splashy Fen to enjoy the uplifting festival experience. Together with East Coast Radio Gold DJ Jane-Linley Thomas and JNC Helicopters, Josh Reynolds was able to return to his favourite festival without having to make the lengthy trip by car. Josh and his wife Phillipa arrived on-site via helicopter on Friday at 9 am and spent their morning wandering around the craft market, enjoying live music, great food, and a spectacular view of the Corona River Stage, from the new Splashy Viewing Deck.
Saturday has been a cold and rainy day, filled with muddy gumboots, happy smiles, and some of South Africa’s most talented musicians. Nish Pillay, Good Luck, and Mi Casa are set to take the Main Stage by storm this evening, while fans can look forward to the foot-stomping, leg-smacking, beat-boxing tunes of Jeremy Loops tomorrow, as the final act for Splashy Fen 2022.
