This is free climbing at its scariest: watch Alex Honnold climb El Sendero Luminoso’s 700-metre cliff face … without any ropes.
Mexico’s El Potrero Chico is paradise for mountain climbers. Characterised by its limestone cliffs, it attracts climbers of all kinds from all corners of the globe. One such climber is Alex Honnold, who takes sport-climbing to a new level of insane with this bit of free climbing craziness: ascending the 500-metre wall at El Sendero Luminoso alone, without ropes.
My advice would have been to use ropes. But then it wouldn’t have been as awesome. So I guess the next piece of advice is: don’t look down.
