African wildlife crusader, Dingo Dinkelman, prepares for 5 nights in the Cage of Death with some of the world’s deadliest reptiles
In a world-first, South African conservationist and world-famous YouTube sensation, Dingo Dinkelman, will be spending five nights sleeping in the ‘Cage of Death’ – a secure enclosure alongside a selection of the world’s most dangerous animals. And while his antics might seem insanely frightening to most of his avid viewers, all of Dingo’s actions are in the name of wildlife conservation. With his latest daring undertaking, Dingo aims to portray these incredible animals, not as monsters to be feared, but as an intricate part of the natural world.
The five-part series, which will be aired on Wednesdays from 28 July at 5 pm, will give audiences front-row seats to Dingo’s up-close animal experience with the continent’s most feared reptiles. Secure in the Cage of Death, an enclosure custom-built by Conrite Walls, Dingo’s intimate reptilian encounters will be live-streamed from 6 pm to 8 pm, with audiences welcome to send questions through during this time. Dingo will spend 12 hours in total – 5 am to 5 pm – in close quarters with his unlikely roommate, with video footage featuring highlights from the night’s event available on his YouTube channel.
But who has Dingo chosen for this death-defying experience?
· Considered the most-dangerous crocodilian responsible for hundreds of attacks on humans annually, the Nile Crocodile will undoubtedly keep Dingo awake throughout the night. Having outlived the dinosaurs by a few million years, Dingo will have to keep his wits about him to survive 12 hours with the planet’s ultimate survivor.
· The excited sound of rattling won’t get Dingo in the party mood, but rather put him on high alert when he spends the night with the highly-venomous rattlesnakes. But despite their fearsome reputation, rattlesnakes, like all reptiles, play a vital role in the balance of the ecosystem.
· Dingo will no doubt have a long story to tell after spending the night with two of the largest constrictors on the planet; a four-metre green anaconda and an even larger six-metre reticulated python. Because is spending the night in an enclosure with just one constrictor really enough?
· However, a night with two constrictors might pale in comparison to a night spent alongside five-metre ‘Thor’, the longest venomous snake currently on the African continent. That’s right, Dingo is also looking forward to getting up close and personal with a massive king cobra.
· Finally, Dingo gets the chance to spend some quality time with an old friend, the black mamba. Having already received ‘the kiss of death’ from such a reptile previously, Dingo is highly allergic to snake venom and will have to play it safe to avoid another unwelcome show of affection from the most notorious snake in the world.
“These animals are some of the most misunderstood in the natural world, with myths and legends creating them into fearsome monsters,” explained Dingo. “The reality is they’re not actually monsters, but just beautiful animals that are an important part of the natural ecosystem and we can co-exist with them. The more we learn about them, and get past the fear, the better chance we all have of living together harmoniously. I hope that through this series, I break down barriers so our global audience also gets a chance to connect with these reptiles.”
Dingo does admit, however, that he has one concern: “We’ll be shooting this in winter, and as a mammal, I’m going to be the warmest thing in the enclosure. My biggest worry is that these cold-blooded reptiles will be wanting to get close to me throughout the night – but that’s just part of the fun!”
*Note to audiences
Dingo and his crew are trained professionals and have extensive experience in working with deadly animals. He will be closely monitored throughout every encounter, with a medical practitioner on hand to assist at all times. Audiences are discouraged from re-enacting or re-creating any animal encounters undertaken by Dingo and his team.
