The 60 Minutes Fight Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse NPC, a South Coast based non-profit company annually joins hands with the Cedars Recovery Centre to present the 60 Minutes Fight Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse Tour. The tour visits six high schools educating and enlightening the youth about the effects and dire consequences of substance addiction. The 60 Minutes Show comprises of an educational play and entertainment pieces. The play is exclusively prepared and performed by patients of The Cedars Recovery Centre.
Being a non-profit company, the company relies solely on sponsorships. The Team is grateful to sponsors for making it possible to carry the message to local schools where drug and alcohol addiction is rife, and a major contributor to derailing the future of our young members of society.
Special thanks goes to SAPPI SAICCOR who has been our major sponsor and has been sponsoring the event for 5 years running. Our other sponsors are Lightness Productions, The Rising Sun; Olivia Jones Communications; S Hlatshwayo Attorney; Delta-V Experts; R & M Construction; Stick It; Water Dynamix; SagaTronics; Atlanta Spur and Grand Rapid Spur.
Members of the public are invited to attend the final rehearsal which is open to the public. The purpose of this open show is to present to our sponsors and the public at large the contents of our message. While serving this purpose, it also seeks to educate parents and loved ones of addicts about addiction – how it affects an addict and how it should be approached. This final rehearsal will be held on Thursday the 25th July 2019 at the Umkomaas Primary School hall at 6pm – 7pm. A fee of R20 is payable at the entrance.
