Jack Parow wows Witbank
A special appearance by the one and only Jack Parow at Spring Feva 2014 held at Barham Bay, Witbank, earlier this month proved without doubt that he is clearly a crowd favourite – who knows exactly how to get people into a party mood.
ShowMe Witbank took the opportunity to ask this South African icon a few questions:
SMW: You were a clear favourite on Saturday night. Do you usually get that type of response at a show?
JP: I’m very thankful, Witbank showed me so much love, thanx, really, was TOOOOOO much fun!!
SMW: Have you been to Witbank before? Would you come again?
JP: I was here long ago, but I must say, after Saturday I want to get back as soon as possible. What a fun festival and great vibe from the people to the organizers, just overall a great experience.
SMW: Did you have a chance to ‘kuier’ with some locals afterwards?
JP: Haha, ja, very much so, maybe even too much.
SMW: You have hits in both English and Afrikaans. Are you using English as an opportunity to reach a broader market?
JP: Ag no, not really, I just make music and it pretty much comes out the way it does, sometimes it’s Afrikaans, sometimes it’s English, but overall its always mostly Afrikaans as that is my home language.
SMW: Are you played on most radio stations? English and Afrikaans?
JP: Yip, I am, I must say the radio stations have been treating me well and ‘Hos Tokolosh’ was actually the first ever Afrikaans song to go number one on 5fm.
SMW: What is your favourite ‘Jack Parow’ song?
JP: Haha, I dont know, probably the one that’s the newest because it’s the one I’ve heard the least! But ja, they all have their own special place in my vibe.
SMW: Who else in the South African music scene are you a fan of? Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with on stage in future?
JP: I love South African music and South African musicians, from Fokofpolisiekar, to Ifani and Capetown to Pit Sonder Water. We have such a cool and happening scene, I’m really excited to hear and see what’s coming in the future. Myself and Ifani are actually looking at putting out an EP soon, so check out for it.
SMW: Are you doing any overseas tours?
JP: I’ve been touring overseas for a while, I actually just got back from the Netherlands where I played 12 shows and they were all sold out! It was crazy!
SMW: Tell us a little about your Trademark Merchandise
JP: You can grab it at my shows, from my new album “Nag van die lang pette” to my signature caps and tees, they all there… also at your nearest CD Shop or Online Shop or www.thegreekmerchant.com.
