Photos: One night with Jack Parow
There are very few artists who can down a shot of Jagermeister whilst jumping to a beat, and sing simultaneously. However, this was no difficult feat for Jack Parow, whose extreme performance could easily place him in the ranks of one of the best South African artists.
Looking into a sea of fans wearing his signature ‘extra-length’ caps, it provided quite a unique sight as they could be seen bobbing up and down to the beat.
Playing his popular hits like ‘Bloubek’ and ‘Party, Party, Party’, Jack Parow performed live on stage at The Venue on Friday, August 28.
Zander Tyler, now known as Jack Parow (possibly a play on Pirates of the Caribbean character Jack Sparrow), has a life full of lessons that he portrays through his rap singing. He seems to try highlight certain life issues like the cultural class problem amongst the youth with the song Cooler as Ekke.
Although known to swear in most of his songs, there is definitely a melancholy side he brings to light in the song ‘Ode to You’ which is a tribute to all the working class, people struggling to make a living in jobs that can be very long and pay little.
Many of his fans were delighted to meet him after the show at The Ridge where he signed shirts and posed for photos. Its seems he has a split interest in the Afrikaans community, where people either love or hate him, but those who do love him are loyal fans for life.
