LifeLine Vaal Triangle Dedication and end of year event 2015
Lay Counsellors at LifeLine are “dedicated” at a special service, held after a year of probation as a Lay Counsellor. The probationers undergo a 16 week period of training, before being selected as “trainee” Lay Counsellors. The service is a very special occasion where the “new” volunteers participate in a “pledge of confidentiality” and receive certificates in a candle lighting ceremony. Other LifeLine members participate and re-pledge their dedication to LifeLine and the services. This year Beth Thomas, a Lay Preacher at the Central Methodist Church in Vereeniging, officiated at this special occasion. Beth provided a reading and lesson from the scriptures, to those present, and highlighted the free, confidential and person-centred services which LifeLine provides to the communities of Sedibeng.
The ceremony was combined with a year-end function as a “cost saving” exercise. A donation was received enabling the staff and volunteers to be treated to a braai and a wonderful Christmas cake donated by Paul at the Golden Bakery. The cake was really massive and we had a great feast trying to make a dent in it!
Management had the pleasure of cutting the cake at the year-end event
