LifeLine Vaal Triangle Host DNA Workshop.
On 31st July 2014, LifeLine was privileged to hold a very useful workshop in Vereeniging. The workshop provided useful information around the new law passed in January 2014 about Forensic Procedures (Criminal Law Amendment Act or DNA Act of 2013). This information was especially useful to all those who work in the field of criminal law and forensics. People such as Crime scene responders, SAPS, CPF’s, Security Guards, Paramedics, Lawyers, Legal Aid and Rape Counsellors attended, as they would benefit most from this information.
It was a privilege to have guests such as Piet Byleveld, well known and legendary SAPS detective and Brig. Joe Smith, Section Head for Forensic database management at SAPS head office who provided the audience with information and some anecdotes. Prof Lelliot, qualified with BSc (Hons), MSc and a PhD from WITS, facilitated the programme. Over 90 people attended the workshop and feedback was great!
LifeLine would like to thank all those who attended as the function was also a fundraiser! Hopefully we will be able to host some more of this type of workshops and provide relevant information on various topics!
