FIFA 2014 is Here
The 2014 World Cup has arrived.
Today is the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup hosted in Brazil. It is the 20th itineration of the FIFA World Cup. The tournament runs form today, 12 June, until 13 July 2014, providing a month full of riveting soccer – or ‘football’ if you prefer.
The World Cup sees 23 countries fighting for the top spot. The group rounds are broken down into 4 countries competing against each other in 8 groups running from 12 to 26 June 2014.
The second stage kicks off on 28 June with 16 rounds of the first and second teams of each group battling it out against each other.
The winners proceed to the quarter finals taking place on 4 & 5 July. Then the often heated semi-finals will take place on 8 & 9 July.
The playoff – which determines who is official placed 3rd and 4th in the ranks – enjoys its moment in the sun on 12 July.
The huge final match will take place on 13 July and the winners of the 2014 FIFA World Cup will walk away with chests out and heads held high to carry the title until the next world cup in 2018

It’s good news for soccer fans with a full month of action filled matches on the cards.
Although South Africa’s Bafana Bafana did not even make it through to the qualifying rounds, this has not put a damper on the country’s enthusiasm for the World Cup. Having hosted the previous 2014 FIFA World Cup groupsCup in 2010 there is a buzz around many die hard soccer fans. And any true soccer lover will not miss the opportunity to watch the world’s best battle it out on the pitch. The opinions of who will walk away with this year’s title are varied with many backing the host nation Brazil, who have throughout the years been a formidable opponent to any team and boast some of the best players in the world.
For now, we will all have to sit back, watch the matches, and wait for the winners to reveal themselves.
