Or-Gari Golden Safari has expanded their collectable décor products into the Cape, with an amazing factory now based in Franschoek.
Or-gari Golden Safari creates exquisite collectable décor pieces that represent South Africa’s finest qualities, of craftsmanship, design and simplicity. Each piece embodies the essential cultural significance and blends the values of tradition and innovation, to evoke a sense of awakening to the legendary Golden Safari secret.
All of the Or-gari Golden Safari pieces are designed by London-trained designer Heidi Snaith and each piece is adorned with her designs by a small team of artists based in Johannesburg and Franschhoek, in the Western Cape.
Since there has been a lot of speculation and interest from the public, as well as a lot of positive change simultaneously – Heidi and Nick decided to open the factory up to their clients so that we can experience what it means to put together one of the special pieces from A to Z.
Each piece goes through 20-30 different steps to get to the end product. No sort of effort or expense is spared leading to a once off original piece that is always treasured by the client.
The magic all happens at the gallery studio where you will be able to meet and greet the Art Manager and get a feel of what the brand is all about. Then you’ll get to watch and meet the different artists from the local community perform their trade and see the simple yet detailed art as it happens. This is a beautiful and original experience for the whole family and brings another dimension to the brand, as you are able to physically be at the workshop and see the artists doing what they love.
You’ll even be able to get an autograph on a gift card from the artist, take photos with them and support your favourite artist by purchasing a piece, which is then individually packaged and if you live abroad there is a worldwide delivery option available at an extra cost.
All of their suppliers and artists are sourced locally, which is a great lesson for other local business as this means expanding their own business and economy instead of spending exorbitant amounts outside of their borders, making it a proudly South African brand standing on it’s own two feet.
