The Shakaland Cultural Experience, Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal
Shakaland brings the Zulu culture to life in this unique resort where a traditional Zulu homestead has been replicated on the site of the great movies, Shaka Zulu and John Ross. The resort is divided into the home of the Zulus and accommodation for visitors.
This unique establishment gives visitors the opportunity to experience the real excitement and romance of Shaka, the great King of the Zulus. Shakaland is essentially a re-creation of Shaka’s great kraal, and as a tourist establishment, offers visitors accommodation in traditional Zulu huts. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience Zulu customs and traditions, such as dancing, spear-making and beer drinking, all while staying in their luxury three-star Zulu huts.

Facilities include 55 traditional beehive huts equipped with private bathroom and shower, modern conveniences and superb views over the lake.
Getting there: From Durban, take the N2 going north and turn off at the R66 going to Eshowe. Continue through Eshowe on the R66 until you see a sign to Shakaland on your left hand side.
