The Rhino and Lion Reserve, Gauteng

The 1200ha Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve is a privately owned game reserve, situated in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. The Reserve is located near Krugersdorp, 40 km north-west of Johannesburg and 60km east of Pretoria, and offers facilities and activities for adults and children, including an animal ‘creche’ where you can play with lion cubs.

The Reserve is home to many species of game, which they call the ‘Stars of the Show’. As the name suggests the  main ‘stars’ are Lion and White Rhino, which are bred on the Reserve, but you can also see Black Wildesbeest, Blue Wildebeest among other species of antelope, vultures and many other species of game and birds. There are more than 600 head of Game on the Reserve.

A unique attraction on the Reserve is the Wonder Cave.

The Rhino and Lion Reserve has developed many visitor facilities over the years, including a play park for children and the ‘Crocodile Pub’ where you can enjoy a beer while watching crocs in the dam close by. There are also accommodation facilities.
