The Giant Footprint

Near the little town on Lothair lies something that is becoming of the world’s most intriguing mysteries. A 4 foot ‘footprint’ in a granite outcrop near Lothair, estimated by geologists to be between 200 million and 3 billion years old, has many convinced that giants once walked the earth.

Some dismiss the footprint as the coincidental in unlikely result of natural erosion, but an argument for the giant theory is that  at‘Goliath’s Footprint’ as it has been dubbed, there is evidence of weight having been involved in the creation of the shape (ie somebody stepping on the rock when it was soft). (Of course, we also learn that granite is an igneous rock formed when lava solidifies underground…)

Make up your own mind…it’s worth a photo, and people leave pennies in the ‘heel’ of the print. Local tribes have legends about the giants that once roamed the earth.

Getting there: Go to Lothair, and ask a local to give you directions to the Footprint just outside of the village.
